Folding On Linux

I downloaded the console version of F@H for Linux but when I download it, the file is a .exe and doesn't open....Do I just have the wrong download or what?

Change the owner to yourself, and place it in a directory (if you want).

 

Then type ./[email protected]

chmod 777 FAHblahblahblahblah

 

then you can set a cron job to start it on boot

Be careful with the cron jobs though. If you boot from a console and it starts as a none-daemon, it can cause issues :/

If you're using KDE, checkout KDE-look .org. There's a folding@home applet that allows you to run f@h in gui from the kicker.

I have a simmilar problem. The error is that F@H is a dos EXE and that I need to change it to a valid linux excuitible of someing like that. So what do I change it to?

As per instructions:

Open Konsole

navigate to the location of your FAH502-Linux.exe

chmod +x FAH502-Linux.exe

FAH502-Linux.exe

 

 

that's what I did today and it seems to work fine. I'm wondering though if it is worth it for me to fold in linux rather than winxp. Does anyone know if it would be faster?

 

BTW yes I know this is an old thread, I couldn't find any instructions in other recent threads so maybe this will help someone.

Thanks, not for the instructions, but for the reminder that I need to get folding again, I haven't in forever since I switched over to Linux.

I have FAH502.exe running on FedoraCore3 2.6.9-1.667; it runs fine.

I see no difference in FAH performance between WinXP & FC3
