So, the quarter is up on friday and our school has some stupid Grade viewer thing so my parents got on it and I have like a 3.4 something like that and because I dont have a 3.5 I dont get to use the computer for the next 9 weeks... Now I think this is bull crap, I go to one of the top ten schools in the country (acording to some stupid newspaper thats reliable) which means if I went to most any other school I would have a 4.0... My test scores are good too so its not like its affecting them at all... its also the FIRST time I have EVER been less than a 3.6, my schedual is packed (8 credits, the "max" is 7) and Im super stressed out

MEAGH!!!

EOF </RANT> STFU RTFM what the heck LMAO LOL other random acronyms...

I know how that feels, my parents did the same thing in high school. Look forward to college...I promise you'll be SO much happier there. You'll look back on high school and laugh at how ridiculous it was...I know I did when I came here to RIT.

Ok, first off, don't drop out. Good luck getting a high paying job when the most you have is a GED.

And also, try reasoning with your parents. Explain to them that 3.4 is rather high, and is hard to get at your school, compared to other schools. Also, compromise with them. Maybe 10 minutes to post on forums and stuff, and the rest to do homework, study, etc?

Seems like your parents are over-reacting a ton. Along Badger's line of thinking, I'd try something like "this semester has been pretty tough, and it's putting a lot of stress on me. my computer helps me relieve stress, which makes me a better student, not a worse one." then offer some sort of token concession like setting up study time, using the computer during set times, something like that so they feel like they've made a positive change in your study habits.

Nine weeks without your comp. is ridiculous; I'd go into cold sweats. if you don't want to try reasoning with them, at least try to plea bargain

As a parent i can see their side. You have given them the expectation that you will have a 3.6 or above gpa. ut i wpuld be grateful if mine came up with a 3.4. :foldon:
