Newport Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Well, as the end of October rolls around, i am already getting ideas and hints from my dad about Christmas... Recently, he has been talking about how he just isnt happy with the performance of his Cadillac. He drives a 1994 DeVille with the 4.9L v8. I usually get something for the both of them for christmas but this time, i am going all out! I recently got a $1.10 / hour raise (no crapping lie here!) and the extra buck 10 is going towards my new ideas for my best Christmas list yet! Anywho, i am thining about buying a couple aftermarket parts for my dad's caddie... I am looking into either intake, exhaust, or ignition... I was thining about getting a new K&N filter for it as well as enlarging the exhaust a little to boost intake and exhaust a little for some more low end torque... Also, i was thining about getting a set of Iridium plugs coupled with a new set of ignition wires... What do ya all think about the Newport's version of Pimp My Ride? Any questions, comments, concearns, or ideas are more than welcome! Got any links where i could find some parts? I already have a few links bookmarked... w00t! sdy284 Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 (edited) an intake coupled with a set of headers and exhaust will make the most noticable increase in HP and "seat of your pants" acceleration. Iridium plugs and fancy wires aren't really going to get you much performance from a stock engine/distributor Edited October 26, 2004 by sdy284

I gotta save some money for my A64 commin up too! haha But i know i would of loved to get headers for it but i can only do so much with what i got lol! sdy284 Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 ok, then an intake and maybe a cat-back exhaust
DECwakeboarder Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Intake is going to be the best place to start after getting some aftermarket plugs and wires (really do make a difference, cut .3 sec off of a plymouth Duster's 1/4)
Bionix Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Well I cant help ya with car advice... I will say that you are very generous. The most I spend on my parents is $40-50. I pay for alot of my own stuff though... so I dunno =P.

Some_Guy_ Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I would start with intake as well, then if cash runs too low for a full exhaust I would go cat-back for now.
OptikaliLLusion Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Bleh.... just get him to buy a BMW M3... If you really want to get some good performance out of this caddy, you'll probably spend enough that you might as well get a new car. And the M logo owns the caddy logo :D

I didnt know that an M3 costs under 1,000 bucks! In that case, i am gonna buy one... fek that! make it one for me as well right now! <_< The baseline specs for the engine is 270 HP and 300 foot pounds of torque... Thats a GREAT start so with some small mods, i coudl really unleash the raw power of this car hehe.
drewkivela Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 best place to start is with an intake, then exhaust. if there is a deficiency in the plugs/wires you'll see a decent difference otherwise not really. also many cars benefit from hypergrounding wires (my eclipse did) -drew
