kendellrt Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 I am looking for an LCD monitor with speakers on the bezel, good quality, but still a modest price. I want to make sure I can play games on it too. Any suggestions?
Nstyle Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 I wouldn't get an LCD for games unless your driven for space...if you have the space I would get a nice new 19" or 21" CRT....CRT's are just better in games...if thats what you do mostly. Vampire Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 CRT's may be good, but if I were you I'd definately spend extra on the LCD, they really do rock. Also why do you want speakers built into the monitor? It will cost more and they usually have bad sound quality :/
Nstyle Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 He asked for a reccomendation... How are LCDs better? They are only better if you pay 800 bucks for one... Most cheap ones dont last as long as a cheap CRT and every once in a while you get dead pixels in them...which suck because you rma it again and then one week later you get dead pixels in the new one... Plus they fade....imo LCD isn't up to par with a CRT at all and needs to be improved.
evanin Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 I have a SVA LCD 18", it was 350 at Office Depot when I bought it. I am very happy with it. When I play games it looks fine. My dad just got a LG LCD 18" for $250 online. He loves it. They look awsome. I do not regret getting a LCD instead of a CRT. No dead pixels on either. Both have bad sound quality speakers on the bottom.
kendellrt Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 I just wanted to save space by having the speakers built in, but maybe I won't after what I have been told. Gaming is not what I do most of the time, but I still enjoy it from time to time.
BiPolar Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 This is what i found when i was looking to get an lcd (when i thought my crt had broken, but didn't). I wanted cheap, but good gaming quality (ie response time <20ms). The specs on the Sceptre are incredible at a very low price. I've never really heard of them, but you should be able to get an extended warranty from the company from whom you purchase it. Silverfox Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 New Egg that looked promising to me.....cheap and decent spec - 16ms...1280*1024.....$275...
kendellrt Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 New Egg that looked promising to me.....cheap and decent spec - 16ms...1280*1024.....$275... Good catch! However, I would like one with DVI. There is a CTX on newegg for about the same price, and highly reviewed. I guess I really don't care too much about the speakers, if they are so bad. Leldorion Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Nu Someone I know has been looking into getting that one it has better contrast than the rosewill, but its brightness isn't as good. I'm not sure about DVI
Gremlin Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Honestly I would go with this one Dell If you wait this december, the price might even go down further. Please do not get speakers embedded with a monitor. It is not even worth the trouble. That was on sale for $609 shipped 2 weeks ago. So in December might be in the $580 range maybe. Let us know what you choose.
CNUco2007 Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 I have a Sony 15" LCD w/ Speakers and its been great. Even for gaming; there's no ghosting or nething. But it cost $365, which i belive it has been worth it. I bought this back in March though so u can probably find it cheaper now.
