FunkyMonkey Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 first you can get a hole-saw, that's the easy way or you can get a dremel which will be more money, and requries more skill second from the look of the side i think you will need to cut throught the plexi the metal. screw off the plexi and trace out the hole after the hole s cut, put the fan over the hole and mark the screw holes. drill the hole and put some screws in them slow and steady does the trick
Goran Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 (edited) wow thats a lot of work and I really dont have the experience to use those kinda tools... My dad might but he wouldnt help me since hes way busy as it is. Also do have a picture of any of these... I really have no idea what either looks like edit: is there a guide anywhere for this? Not plexi ones or anything but like steel or some kinda other metal Edited October 24, 2004 by Goran
Nemo Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 I'd be willing to bet that when you get the case you'll see a spot in the front of the case to mount at least one fan if not two - I couldn't tell from the pictures. If not, you may want to rethink your choice of cases and get something like the Raidmax Scorpio 868 which is similarly priced and has room for lots of fans. But, then as FunkyMonkey said, you'll want to cut out the fan grills using a hole saw or Demel tool to improve airflow and reduce noise. FunkyMonkey Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 i know there are guides on how to cut circles in steel but can't find tehm right now but here's some picstures, i dont know if these are what you want or not hole-saw dremel-note the many cutting tools
TimeMachine Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 dremel is really good, set ur drill or dremel to low rpm, so it can reduce the chances of cracking the plexi. also tape the sides of place ur gonna mod, so it can protect the paint from chipping. also, you can put a 120 m fan ont he roof i believe. I just thought it would be cool to try and mod a case with some LED fans. But with no experience and no proper training (unlike my dad) I dont want to mess with anything that could endanger the case. I will however give it a sometimes on this current case which is an HP one so that should be fun to beat up! Thanks for your input Here It supports 120mm intake and exhaust..nice if you ask me So this thing comes with 1 x 80mm front Blue LED fan, 1 x 80mm side Blue LED fan and u can also put 2 in the bottom front where the eyes are? If so thats pretty neat! lol Should I have any that I put in suck in air or blow out? Edited October 24, 2004 by Goran
kobalt Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 (edited) From the looks of things you have room to put two big fans in there .If i bought this case i wouldn't cut it up too fast. Just go with it as it is and in a month or two you can decide if the air flow isn't to your liking or not or if you want to improve on it PS : if you want to cut up something cut those darn perf. grills, i do hate those in any case Edited October 24, 2004 by kobalt
Goran Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 thanks for the advice. I dont think I'll be cuttign anything if I can add fans already. I will probably practice it first on an old case to see how it works out.
spectrascope Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 nice case and while removing the stock stamped grills is a good idea it is not mandatory
Goran Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 (edited) Will that improve air flow? edit: this board will fit into that case correct? http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc....ufactory=BROWSE Edited October 24, 2004 by Goran
