hey im trying to use my tower as a gateway for my laptop

 

 

my hispeed modem conects to my router

V

router conects to the onboard network card

V

notebook conects to pci network card

 

 

how can i set this up when i run network creator it says there is an error

and bot the tower and notebook show network cable unpluged

fist off .. what is the point of that.. ?? if your going to do that.. get windows 2000 advanced server, get rid of your router.. put 2 network cards in that sucker.. have the cable modem et cable go to the first network card, then get a switch.. plug a small patch between the 2nd ethernet card and the uplink on the switch.. set up your DHCP server in windows 2000, set up the scopes.. then start a residential gateway..

no kuz my mom and dads computer in her room is conected to the router and same with my sister

 

i transport my laptop back and forth between my room and the basement

the only reason i use it in the basement conected to my tower is because it easyer to have RM for BFV running on my laptop insted of me minimizing my game to kick ppl etc

 

but most of the time it is conected to the router in my bed room

 

this is just a fix untill i get my wifi access point

Plus thats alot more complicated then just getting a crossover cable
