Stillwell Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 Hey everyone! I just bought an eVGA 6800GT 256mb, and I want to overclock it as much as possible, without killing it or shortening its "life". Here's my specs: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ Gigabyte GA-7VAXP LG DVD-Rom Standard CD-RW 1 Maxtor 40gig 1 Maxtor 160gig I think I should be able to push the card a little more because my power supply is an OCZ 520W. I'd really appreciate if you have some time to write me a short step-by-step on what to do to OC the card. Thanks!
GregP24 Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 Try coolbits or rivatuner, they are supposed to be good OCing utilities for the nVidia cards.
O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 Overclock in small increments; after each increase, test for stability. Make sure you have adequate cooling.
Stillwell Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 If I can recall correctly, at idle time system runs at about 45-50. When it's been running for some time, it goes up to 60-70. I know, it's hot. Thanks for the replies though. What are those increments? 50/50 each time? And after, how do I test for stability? Playing a game intensively? TheSternMystic Posted October 24, 2004 Posted October 24, 2004 You can test for stability by running 3Dmark01/03/05...And overclocking anything at all will almost definatly shorten it's life in some way.
