Which VNC program are you using?

RealVNC, TightVNC, UltraVNC, or something else?

If it's RealVNC you install the server on the computer you want to control. Configure the options, and set a password for that system.

Then you install the viewer on the system that will be the system you will be working from. Enter the name of the system in the connect box, then the password and you should be looking at the server system.

First of all what version did you install??

reason version 3 you can use your browser with jav a installed to view the other machine and if you installed version 4 browser is not a good option

I am not good at explaining but here goes.

1) set a the password on the server where the vncservice is running i.e. if you care about security.

2) if you use the browser i.e. if you installed ver 3 you can access the machine by typing http://ip:5800 and you will need to have jave installed. It will ask you for a password and you are in

3) if you do not want to use the browser, there is a file called vncviewer.exe look for that file. copy that to a floppy and you can use that prog to connect to the server. right mouse click on the top of the prog window to send a ctrl-alt-delete so you can logon to the machine.

Hope that helps you out. let me know if any questions.

By the way when you installed you chose default settings like it to autoatically start the service right? You should see a VNC icon on the system tray.
