Miichael Posted October 24, 2002 Posted October 24, 2002 I have a xp 1900+ 1.6GHz and iv been playing around with the fsb. I got the fsb changed to 144 everything esle the same volts/multiplier. The system runs stable at 144FSB 1.73GHz but at 146 has lock ups. Can i up my voltage to keep the system from locking? If anyone has 1900+ cpu overclocked please post your specs. FSB/Multiplier/Voltage/sys + cpu temps.
d3bruts1d Posted October 24, 2002 Posted October 24, 2002 Increasing the CPU vCore (Core Voltage) can help stable a system out. If your system locks up at 146, then give it a try. Just remember that an increase to the vCore will also increase the CPU temp a bit.
Xst Posted October 24, 2002 Posted October 24, 2002 My 1900+ is running 144 FSB to give me 1728MHz. This is 100% stable for me. I've tried running faster too and things strat getting funky. Let me know if you can run any faster. I have 333MHz DDR so that's not slowing things down yet. I also have a volcano9 with idel temps of 41 and load temps of 45. I know that people are running around 50 so there is a little room for more heat. Also one intake and 2 exhaust fans right next to the cpu fan. Miichael Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 i added 2 more case fans. got 2 intake front and 2 exhaust rear, got a volcano 6CU + 7000RPM cpu fan and i can set fsb to 146 now. Before it would lock up right after boot. Been running good so far temp is 42 C idle 46C load
Xst Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 I'm gonna try turning up the speed of my volcano 9 and see if that helps. I have it set to temp control and it''s running at 2700rpm. It will do 4800 rpm once i switch the jumper. Right now i'm at 144 fsb at 42 deg idle and 45 load.. I'll change the jumper monitor the temps. If there is a difference (err which there should be) i'll up the fsb and see what happens.... Hmmm here goes
Miichael Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 set to 146 and up ur core voltage slowly. dont up it alot or it will cause a big temp change. but upping it some will help it become more stable
Xst Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 What vcore have you got it set to yourself ? Holly smokes get the ear protection out. How anyone can sit with the v9 at full wack i'll never know. I doubt i'll run it that fast it's just too noisy. I think i'm gonna add the remote and manually set the speed to a bit more than it is now but less than full wack. The temps went down a bit for the short time i had it running. At 2700 rpm it was 42 At 4800 rpm it was 38 4 deg with the fast setting. If i can set it to about 3600 the temp should be 40 and perhaps upping the fsb will then allow for some increase in temp. Tomorrow night though too late to be messing with my pcs insides.. lol Ugh i'm my own worst enemy.. Switched to the remote and set the rpm to 4200 which isn't quite as noisy as 4800.. it actually shows 5200 in my asus probe if i max it out. Temps now read 40 CPU and 21 MB so an improvement. We'll run like this for a day and then play with the fsb.. Miichael download RivaTuner for your 4200 card. Some very nice options in there if you're wanting to o/c your video card. And it o/c's very well !!

Didnt lock up any i was playing battlefield 1942 for about 30 minutes temps was around 47-
