New Case And Now Pc Wont Power Up

I just got a new chieftec matrix case to replace an old case that I had... I took every part from my old pc and put it in my new pc except for a new cdr because my old one was broken... When I go to turn on the computer now, the ps and cpu fan spin for a split second and that is all that happens... Then if I hit it again, nothing happens at all... I thought maybe the case was defective but then the switch wouldnt have done anything... Anyone have anything for me to try? I have unplugged everything else from the power supply and still nothing.

Sounds like something is shorting the PSU out, since it appears as though the PSU's breaker is tripping. (that's why it won't do anything if you press it a second time) Make sure that nothing is shorting out against a power cable/motherboard/whatever. And you did use the mobo standoffs, right?

Thank you for the quick reply... I did the same thing for the mb standoffs as I have done before... I just line them up with the holes on the mb, and then screw them in... Is there more I can do to make sure it is not a short there?

You might try to take it all out and put it back in again sometimes when you try to find something in particular like this it's like the needle thing. Just re do it all over, it solves the problem 1/2 of the time ;)

Ok components wise, take all that is unessential out or rather unplugged them and start putting them in one by one. Just vid card and 1 memory stick and see what happen, try putting that memory stick in different slot if it doesn't boot up to see if that could also be the culprit.

make sure your mobo screws are to tight this can happen and cause shortages... so loosen them a lil and see what happens.

also make sure nothing fell on the mobo and if something did it could be causeing a short...

check your fans because sometimes fans wires will break off*atleast my cheap ones do sometimes* and they can cause shortages...

make sure your fans are all daisy chained

take everything out and off the mobo then put it all back in leave your hdd cdrom any extra stuff off then try booting up
