Kamikaze_Badger Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Ok, as you all know, my older brother reformatted the computer ~one week ago. Yes, he backed everything up, so it was all still there. Problem is, my mom thinks that ZoneAlarm is causing cookie issues with IE, so I can't install that. Yesterday, I come home, see Ad-Aware running, shrug it off and go to Switch User, and go to my account. It takes a bit to load up, so I go get some food. My older brother comes and and says "The lag stops now!". I thought the internet was just being slow again... Guess what I see when I come into the room? 10+ IE windows open(most of them advertising pr0n sites), shitloads of download windows, and when I go to check Ad-Aware, it's found 100+ pieces of malware. I use FireFox, and not IE. Everyone else uses IE... Let this be a lesson to you all: NEVER use IE after reformatting unless you've got your firewalls going. Use FireFox or Opera instead. You WILL thank yourself when you see what happens when you use IE alot. EDIT: Just started Ad-Watch up... EDIT2: I just noticed, Ad-Watch blocks AOL! HA HA HA! Vampire Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Hehe, I recently did a full format of all 3 computers in this room, installed xp pro and loaded them all up with firefox + adwatch + firewall + AV. I hope they survive for a while this time hehe.
