A8v Deluxe -> Help Please

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm new to these forums, so please be nice with my n00b questions b/c I'm still learning. Now, with that out of the way...

Here's my setup:

AMD64 3500+

1 Gig Corsair XMS "2-2-2-5" DDR running dual channel

Asus A8V Deluxe mobo

Western Digital Raptor 74 GB, 10000 rpm SATA HD

Powercolor Radeon 9700 (soon to be X800 XT PE)

SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS

Lite-On 16x DVD Burner

CoolerMaster "WaveMaster" case with 7 fans

550 Watt Thermaltake ATX psu

And here's my problem:

My Radeon won't set to AGP 8x, and the fastwrite keeps turning off. When I right-click on the desktop>properties>settings>advanced>SMARTGART it says:

Current AGP Speed: OFF

Fastwrite: OFF

I should also note that my video card does NOT appear in device manager, even after uninstalling and reinstalling the 4.9 ATI catalyst drivers multiple times. Yet, somehow, I'm running Raven Shield at a smooth 60fps with very few drops. My doom 3 isn't running as smooth as it should either. About 30 Fps average on medium settings at 1024x768.

Other notes: this mobo was a bish to set up. It didn't even have the correct setting for my SATA HD when I got it.

What made me seek help is when I ran the 3DMark05 1.1.0 and scored a 970! The second time I ran it, it crashed because it ran out of video memory! Please help!

You probably didn't install the mobo drivers first. You have to install the drivers for the mobo, and then the video drivers. Uninstall the video drivers, install the latest drivers from Via's website, and then install the catalyst's again. That should clear it up for you.

Here is Via's driver page.
