Gauchito Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Ok, These are the bios setting that we tried in a friend's rig.(Athlon XP 2500+ / ASUS A7N8x Deluxe / Stock HSF / 1x512 OCZ Performance Series 3200 rev3) Multiplier: x11 CPU Freq: 200 FSB:Dram: 1/1 Memory timings: 2.5-3-3-6 This Oc is Good? Can I keep going? or do I need another HSF? Thanks in advance, Gauchito.
DECwakeboarder Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I would get a nicer HSF and then you'll be able to unleash that beast of a processor, that doesnt look like too bad of a starting OC tho
Nerm Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 that is a good starting OC. that chip will go further though. I have two running on MSI boards and they are hitting 2.7ghz and 2.5ghz on air. there is another guy here on the forums that has gotten just barely under 3ghz but that was with mach1 cooling. Gauchito Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 thanks for the answers, this was our first attempt. I said to my friend that buying a new HSF was the next step, so we will try that next week. BTW I have tried to raise the multiplier, but CPUZ keeps reporting x11, I know it would probably be locked (CPU) because no matter what multiplier I set in the bios, CPUZ reports x11. Any HSF Recommendation? Thanks, Matias.

Byron Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Nerm, who is just under 3ghz here? Paranoid? but definently upgrade that fan. Use stock voltage for your oc until you get a better heatsink and fan.

Gauchito Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 The voltage was at 1.7 and temps were not high, as I run prime95 about 30 min and the temps were 61 (CPU Diode) and 45 CPU as Aida32 reported. The system was stable also. Thanks, Matias.
Nerm Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 you need to run prime for more than 30 min to check if it is fully stable or not. Most overclockers don't consider an OC stable unless it has been Prim95 stable for 24 hours.
Gauchito Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I know that, today we will run prime95 all night. Yesterday we were doing some other things so we can't fully test the rig. Thanks for the advices guys.... Matias.
