spathalogic Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 So recently; I've been having some cooling issues. My processor temperature was about 51C full load, and my video card temperature was about 75C+ full load/ 70C idle. Now; came home from school today [mind you folding was on all day] to a .-ay 40C full load temperature on my processor, and 54C ambient temperature on my video card. Now I thought something extraordinarily wrong was happening. I first checked the system processes and it gave me a nice "95%+" reading of processor use. Then I killed F@H, and started running Prime 95. Its been running for about an hour now, and the max temp is only 41C. The other strange thing was it was much warmer in my city than usual today. DOUBLE YOO TEE EFF MATE. So I'm thinkin': Dose dare alieums came intos mah computer and use supa advanced techology on meh cooling systemz! But seriously; How could this be possible? Oh; and I remember just thinking about "Wouldn't it be cool if aliens came in and screwed around with my computer while I was asleep," before I actually fell to sleep. Yeah I know I'm crazy and thats just a coincidence .. but still; teh creepy [Note: I know unpossible is not a word, but I still enjoy using it]
LobbDogg Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Yeah, is this how you always talk?
spathalogic Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 What does it matter? EDIT: Did you even read this? Do you have anything constructive to say?
GTSticky Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Interesting.. Could be your thermal paste set up finally? Or perhaps before you were measuring your temp after gaming or benchmarking video. Folding and Prime95 don't really heat up a system all that much due to the lack of video stress. Try running a loop of 3dmark03 if you want to see how hot it can really get. cheers
spathalogic Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Its possible I got lucky and the AS5 I put on on monday settled... I don't think it could be video stress though; the card used to be 70C at ambient with the processor at 51C at full load. Hrmmm... Thanks for the suggestion for 3dmark03. I'll start that right away. Coolzero101 Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 The graphics card may heat up the CPU.
spathalogic Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Yeah thats what I thought was happening when I was having the heating problems, but they BOTH lowered at the SAME time. .. Thats why I am confused; I guess its really the mystery of the graphics card then.
worker Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Looks like you got a choice eather buy high cfm fans that make a nose or go with water cooling I don t think silent fans will make you cpu cold.
