gravy Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 he is doing it to get away from the fcc nazi's we need regulations, but too many are a bad thing thats why they made an on/off switch or tune knob, the listener is in control of their own exposure, and dont give me the young children listening to a public broadcast crap, their parents are responsible

GTSticky Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 It's insane how much the FCC regulates speech on the radio when there's so many choices. Easily offended rubes could change the channel, but instead decide to complain and take away my right to choose to hear profanity, etc. I listen to Stern occasionally, but happened to catch him today. This makes my decision for me. I've considered a Satellite radio for a while now because i'm sick of reception problems when driving around in my car. Now I'm going to buy one, and it's going to be Sirius. They are obviously dedicated to providing unique and interesting content. (not to mention, I already get Sirius with my Dish Network sub, so I've tasted what commercial-free music in digital quality is like.. and it rocks). BloodySunday Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Not a fan of his show but its sad that the FCC has gotten that bad that free radio is becoming obsolete.
mazakman Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Howard Stern. Two words that when combined are such a waste of time.
ccokeman Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I'm a big fan of his older stuff. Lately its just bad . you can tell when someone is just not into it at this point because one wrong word and its a big fine. he has been kneecapped and once he's on satellite it will be back to the way it was . Just think broadcast vs cable. On cable the restrictions on content are not there as they are on broadcast radio.

I don't understand how people can like the guy. Besides the fact that he's an azz, his show is idiotic. I too am glad he's going off the air. Maybe now K-Rock (in NYC) will finally get a real morning show. Until then, it's the Z Morning Zoo for me. EDIT: local radio will never become obsolete because there's several regulations on satelite radio, such as not allowing local newscasts (weather, traffic). If you want to create an Atlanta Traffic station, you have to make it accessible EVERYWHERE. Yes, you californians could get all the atlanta traffic info you needed ...lol Edited October 7, 2004 by ClayMeow
