Intel Zeon Processors

Recommended Posts

Hello

My friend is going to be building a new comp and he was asking me about what he should get. He told me about what he was looking at. So I am wondering if it is ok to build a dual zeon system for gaming? I thought that it wouldnt be bad but I want to check around with people who know more than me about it. Thanks

Yeah seriously. A dual Xeon rig would be way way too much for just gaming. I would only consider that for video editing and rendering. An athlon64 or even an athlonXP rig will serve him well for at least 2 years into the future. Especially with how much games rely on the video card and less on the CPU.

An Athlon 64 rig would be awesome, however, Athlon XPs are weak and a waste of cash at this point. If he doesn't want an Athlon 64 for some reason, get him an intel Northwood.

For a budget rig you can't really go wrong with an AthlonXP. I've had my 2500 for a few months now and it still rocks pretty much anything you can throw at it. But if he has cash to burn, go with the athlon64 something or other, no reason not to spend the money on it. If he has cash to burn, hell, get a p4. I hear those are fast >_>
