SeV.o3 TwiZZler Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 i no it has to do with the core speed in all but what causes it, temps? i have 9800pro flashed to 9800XT with core speed 452mhz and memory 391mhz and have very little artifacts but theyre not noticable in 3dmark 2001se and aquamark theyre not there but on americas army and painkiller they are noticable how can i get rid of these artifacts lower core speed or memory speed? RVE Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 From my experiences, if the core was too high my games freeze, if the mem was too high I get artifacts (snowy white specs). I believe heat is what causes it for the most part. Parts are made to work under a certain amount of heat, we OC it and it produces more heat, thus throwing it outta spec. Also just running it too fast can cause artifacts. You can watercool or go extreme on vid cards but they can only go so fast no matter the temp. So either heat, or you're going as fast as it's gonna go. If you get artifacts usually bumping down the mem speed a few Mhz will clear it up.
