Pjordan757 Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 If I get a serial ATA converter for my ATA-133 , would there be any problems?
kurosen Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Shouldn't be, assuming you have somewhere to plug the SATA wire into and have a controller...
exeter_acres Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 just remember it will not increase performance at all...but you will be able to use the samller SATA wires, etc
Some_Guy_ Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Yes, the limiting factor in your transfer speed will be the hard drive. Only real benefit is allowing the use of the smaller/thinner cabling.
sdy284 Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 can i ask why you're doing this? are you just looking for the cooling benefit of the smaller cable...or are you out of IDE?
Pjordan757 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I want it to have better cooling, would it really effect my gaming preformance in a negative way?
gunak87 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I use one for my 80gb IDE drive. It came with my ABIT IC7-G mobo. It's worked perfectly since I installed it. If the one you are using is like mine, it probably has a spot for two power cables (1 molex and 1 floppy power plug), so really you'll have 3 cables going into it. Either that, or i have mine set up wrong, but I don't think so.
ill_industries Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 if you want a smaller cable going to your hd, just switch over to the round IDE cables it should be cheaper to do it that way anyways B) if you really want to go SATA, just get a second hd that has the SATA connection you can get a new 80gb hard drive for around $
