Eva_Unit_0 Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 (edited) Does 3dmark05 just REALLY hate the NV3x architecture or something? My 5950U is getting completely RAPED by the benchmark, and it's not just my box either. I scored 1333 last time I ran it, and last time I checked the ORB, the highest 5950U score was only like 1500. Now I'm getting almost 7K in 3dmark03...why is 05 so poor on these cards? Especially when guys with 9800pros are getting well over 2000? I'm running the 66.51 drivers, and they didn't help at all over the 61.77's. For an example, my friend's laptop with the mobility 9700 scores 3800 in 3dmark 03 (compared to my 7K), but yet he BEATS me in 05...what the heck? Anyone else experience this, or have any ideas to increase performance? Edited October 4, 2004 by Eva_Unit_0
Nuclear Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 There are a few threads out there that try to explain this, but it basically boils down to this: 3DMark2005 is just like 3DMark2003, in that it is a heavy shader test. Nvidia cards have never performed good with shader tests, and it shows here. ATi cards handle them much much better, which results in higher scores. Try running ShaderMark on your vid card, and I would bet that it is really low compared to a similiar ATi card.
Vampire Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 There is a good thread about it here. Sucks for nvidia FX owners <_<
