Byron Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 Semprons are t-bred cores, and have 256k l2 cache, they are basically budget cpu's now. Supposed to compete with the celeron-D line. I wouldnt recommend one personally, even thought I've heard some people get really good OC's on t-bred cores. I'd just put the extra 30 or whatever into a barton if you want to OC. Agallion Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 semprons on socket A ARE NOT identical to amd xp..they have half the cache of a throughbred
Paranoid Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 (edited) semprons on socket A ARE NOT identical to amd xp..they have half the cache of a throughbred Thoroughbred's have 256k, Sempron's have 256k The 3100+ is not 64-bit. It uses a 64-bit core with only 256k L2 and the 64-bit registers disabled. Barton's are no longer being produced, so they will be in limited supply. Coolzero101 Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 The 3100+'s take socket 754 boards, which are designed for 64 bit chips, but the sempron 3100+ is just a recovered failed AMD 64 bit chip if im not mistaken, so your running 32bit with a board designed for 64 bit if you buy one. bigred Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 don't forget the socket A semprons are 166fsb while most t-bred athlon xp's were only 133.
