I heard form somone that you could overclock an amd64 athon +3000 2.0GHZ up to 4.0GHZ by use this water cooler.

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-181-001&depa=1

I don t really know a lot about processors wondering if it was true or not. It can be any motherboard but can it go that fast?

the only way they have been able to break the 5 and 6ghz barier is by using extreem cooling systems like liquid nitrogen while using phaze change coolers on the chipsets

however you found that out about that cooler system pushing a 2ghz overclock doesnt know what they are talking about

5.5ghz was with LN2 on the cpu, and phase change on the chipsets.. i believe it was a prescott core.. 2.4A

i do think that 6ghz was hit.. by an AMD.. ill check and get back to u guys on it

EDIT: 6 ghz was broken by the new p4 560 LGA755 cpus.. heres the link

6 ghz is Inpossible for a Amd Cpu. It was hit on a Intel 3.0C Processor I blieve.

Also A Amd 3000+ to 4.0 ghz is Impossible

Isnt it impossible to go much over 3ghz with an AMD? As for a 2ghz chip hitting 4ghz, I dont see why a celeron 2.0 couldnt. I got mine to 3.2+ on air, but water wouldt be enough, would need phase change or a wicked peltier.

I just dont think that a 64 3200+ could stand that. It would have to be a clawhammer core for one, and those are harder to come by, most are NewCastle core, and you'd have to have a really high fsb on it, which is hard to come by. I havent even heard the 3.5ghz barrier broken on an a64.

not possible to hit 4ghz with the current AMD's, but when the new line of FX's come out like the FX-59 I think some people will be hitting 4ghz with it because it will run stock at 3ghz. I can get 3ghz with my A64 3400+ but it isn't anywhere near stable. I think Nuclear has a 3400+ doing 3ghz(300x10) with Mach1 cooling.
