ClayMeow Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 ya it could hurt the video card but i dont think the hardrive could be hurt if you really fry your mobo, it can take anything attached to it as well but the harddrive shiould be safe since its not directly connected. you may lose the ide cable, but that's about it. TimeMachine Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Anything blowing up is dangerous, theres a high chance of messing it up.
exeter_acres Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Actually there is a chance... when you overclock the PCI bus goes way out of spec (unless you have a way to lock the AGP/PCI bus like on an nForce based mobo, but I doubt this board has that) it can corrupt data and potentially damage the drive... the chances are low... but it CAN happen.. Never overclock with parts you may need for work or school tomorrow unless you have spares.... just my .02 cents
Nerm Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 yes OCing your system can damage your hard drive. It is not a high risk part, but it can happen on a rare occasion.
weldzilla Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 you are not really to apt to hurt anything. you see cuz you won't be able to oc that far. you can't lock the agp/pci so what is the point. if you oc to far, they will be out of spec and it just won't boot. You will be lucky to get it to boot with a 50 to 75 mhz OC. Really this is kinda pointless. you want to do something hot!! with that board and processor?? Give it to a charitable organization, so some guy or girl who needs it for school might get it. WZ
