ClayMeow Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 I posted a thread on an issue I'm having with a FarCry DVD three days ago, and have gotten no responses, so I thought maybe the title of my thread and topic was too specific. The game won't install, and it's on a new computer (thus fresh install of WinXP, and SP1). I even posted the question on the farcry support site and did everything the guy told me to do, but to no avail (he said that if all else fails to copy the contents to the desktop and go into safemode and run the setup.exe from the folder....but when i double-clicked on the setup.exe file nothing happens. the hourglass comes on for a second, and then disappears, and nothing opens). Anyways, I'm guessing that a lot of you ut2k4 players got the dvd version, so was installation normal or did you have to set anything special? Anyone else have the farcry dvd? I'm using drivers 61.77 and dx9.0c. Also, I don't have another dvd drive to test it out in, nor do i have another game to try. But i doubt the dvd drive is the problem since i had no problem accessing the cd and copying all 3.5gbs of content over to my harddrive. TheSternMystic Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 The DVD might just be toast. Call up FarCry Support and get em to replace it. Or take it back to wherever you got it from and replace it THERE.
Eva_Unit_0 Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 I've got farcry on dvd, and it works fine. It sure as heck sounds like either the drive or the disc is toast. Can you read other dvd's in the drive okay? Remember that dvd-rom's have two different lasers, one for cd's and one for dvd's, so even if it can read cd's the dvd laser may be toast.
