tetsuo Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I just built my new rig last night and decided to bench it.. i never do these sorta things but i thought i'de give it a shot.. well, after running 3dmark03, i got a score of 6555 =/ .. here are my specs: CPU: amd 64bit 3500+ mobo: msi k8n neo2 ram: 1gig dual channel (2x512 pc3200) vid: BFG 6800GT (left it at the 370 that it came with and didn't OC it anymore) HD1: 36.7gig raptor (OS drive) HD2 and HD3: 2x80gig 7200SATA on raid 0 (Data drives) Case: Cooler Master Wavemaster (has 4 fans - 2 for HD cage, 1 in back and 1 blow hole) I didn't overclock anything, (vid came oc'd obviously, but i didn't do anything else w/it) I have good cooling (at least i think i do).. I've turned off fastwrite after i ran 3dmark once but i still get the same score... I have it on High Performance instead of Quality. Heres another problem tho.. when i do run 3dmark, when it gets to the 3rd sound test (very beginning) it kicks me out and gives me an error .. i'm an idiot and didn't write it down, but if needed i'll post it later.. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx

Eva_Unit_0 Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Did you install the nforce system drivers before the video drivers?
tetsuo Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 (edited) I'll re-run it and write down the error and post back.. I have no idea about the temps =/ .. all i know is my vid is idle at 49C I've got an Antec Trueblue 480 Eva, does it make a diff?.. I installed the vid drivers first (latest drivers from nvidia, didn't use the ones that came w/the card) if it does make a difference then i'll go ahead and wipe and reload, heh.. thx for all the replies.. appreciate the help EDIT: here's the error msg: "FMOD error in FSOUND_SetVolume: An invalid parameter was passed to this function" After installing windows heres what i did: 1. Installed vid drivers 2. Installed windows updates (included SP2) 3. Installed some games 4. Installed nforce drivers Edited October 1, 2004 by tetsuo
r_target Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 It's best to go in this order (at least I think it is): 1. Windows & updates 2. Motherboard drivers 3. Video " 4. Sound "
Eva_Unit_0 Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 yeah, you definately did them in the wrong order. Windows updates always go first, then mobo drivers, then video and sound drivers.
tetsuo Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 yeah, maybe i'll reformat and try that order.. maybe i'll actually go ahead and download the newest drivers for my sound card (i usually just use the ones XP installs) I have a sound blaster live! at the moment .. i'll prolly go ahead and buy an audigy in a few weeks, but I didn't think it would be a big deal.. =/
