Hyper Threaded Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 What kind of paste are you using man? You should definetely have better cooling than that with an SP-97! You could start with re-seating the heatsink with some fresh AS5.
SeV.o3 TwiZZler Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 AS5 right now i dont have any As5 and the only place that has it around here i need a car... but theres on place that sell this stuff made by shin etsu is it any good? tazwegion Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Ummm... what is the room ambient? Your 'sig' states that you have a 2500+ mobile (not OC'ed), as they have a lower Vcore... those temps are way too high, considering I'm @ 40c load (modded stock cooler) & 20c ambient, and you have the almighty SP-97... doesn't quite sound right Definitely reseat your HsF, remember the 1/2 grain of rice approach to using thermal compounds like AS5 Good luck
SeV.o3 TwiZZler Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 (edited) i didnt change any when i set this up my my vcore is 1.616 should i lower it to 1.45 also im going to rerang some furniture and see if my room gets any cooler Edited October 1, 2004 by SeV.o3 TwiZZler
tazwegion Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Yeah 1.45v (Vcore) would be a good move! (initially) I take it your in a summer climate @ the moment? <_<
Byron Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 yea, your board probably sees the processor as a regular desktop processor. Lowering the vcore is perfectly fine. But remember, your board might not be reading the voltages correctly. If you have a multimeter, you should trust that over the mb readings. Lowering the vcore ot the appropriate 1.45 is perfectly safe.
SeV.o3 TwiZZler Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 i lowered it to 1.575 lowest on my mobo but CPU-Z still reads it as 1.616 so does ASUS probe
tazwegion Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Okay, now to your thermal compound question r/t Shin Etsu (CoolerMaster) Here's a review for you @ MadShrimps comparing the Shin Etsu product, AS3 & AS5 (recomended by 9/10 OCC'ers ) The results are fairly close, but the overall winner is AS5 (did anyone doubt it? ) so yes, the Shin Etsu product will do just fine, but if you're buying on-line why not get AS5?
