legit Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 i have the windows OS disk that came with my dell computer, im switching my dell to a new case and upgrading everything but the geforce and memory and drives, i think the type of disk i have is called a directOEM disk and i've heard that these disks check the mobo for its id and wont install if its not the dell, can anyone clarify or tell me how to be able to install the OS on the new mobo. thanks, - legit
suchuwato Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 dont know much bout dell but some manufacturers only supply a recovery disk so that you can't transfer to another pc, which is a bit cheeky, as you pay for the full os. If it is a full disk then you can, but you will need your reg code to use it.
