Adding An Exaust / Intake For My Car

Ok, i have been saving up a little for my car. The exaust header for the front 3 cylinders has a small hole in it which is enough for it to start to sound like a tin can exaust at mid-high range rpm... I am gonna replace the headers and i am also looking for a new muffler. I am NOT going for the ricer sound (pissed off weed whacker sound lol). Instead, i am looking for a nice low rumble, with decent interior sound... enough so i can hear what shes puttin out but i dont want to get annoyed whiel driving down the highway @ 1900 rpms either... My engine is a Ford 3.8l V6 from a second Gen. Taurus. I was looking at the flowmaster 40 series. I found a website that specializes in upgrading the NON SHO Tauruses (tauri? lol) and i have found that many people love the 40 series. Some have said the 50s are too loud in the interrior. What are some good models i could look at for a muffler?

Also, later down the road, i will also bee upgrading the intake. I dont want a turbo (has been done on thi engine) or anything that drastic, just enough to feel an improvement in HP, torque, and a raise in fuel economy. What are some not necessarily cheap, but good upgrades for a v6?

If you all need any more info, please ask for it.

I aim to please, so could you aim too please? hehe

EDIT: here is the site i look at for ideas http://green.lucidgreen.com/taurus/ourcars.html

i believe the flowmaster 40 would be ok...i know a guy who has one on his car and it sounds pretty sweet...and that 3.8l would probably sound even nicer.

edit:

i just remembered that an arospeed would sound good too

Even with the stock exhaust, i can really hear it humm when i am accelerating onto a highway or with a full throttle start. I do know that that engine has a crap load of potential (only has 83k miles on it 1992 model) and i know i could really bring its potential out with a nice intake/exhaust. Just too many choices and for an unexperienced person like me, its kinda confusing. Even though it is considered a grandma's car, its got great handleing and performance for what it is... I am gonna be stuck with it for a while so i might as well fix it up...

Get a nice cold air intake install that you will hear a diference right away...and it sounds like you want borla exhuast...they have those nice v8 sounding rumbles (not like the truck rumbles that kick in @ like 2k rpm)
