InvaderTrax Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 (edited) What car do you have? Most of the kits are designed for specific makes (drum to disc kits I mean) Edited September 28, 2004 by InvaderTrax
suchuwato Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 usually you take off the wheel, then take off the cover from the drum and swap the shoes, put it all back together

Phil Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 You should find someone locally to help, brakes are pretty important. You need to know what to look for once inside, cracked, grooved or warped drums, weeping wheel cylinder, worn wheel bearings, springs that are rusty or tired. This isn't rocket science, but a little experience can keep you out of trouble and save you having to do it again in 3 weeks. InvaderTrax Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Easiest thing to upgrade to discs would be to either call up Honda and get them new, or look for junked rear brakes from an Accord EX (EX came with 4 discs, LX and DX were rear drum). If you go junker, you can take them from a 98-02 model
littleaznkid Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 but after u got the drum do u need to change anything else? like the line? or something? and how much does it cost?
InvaderTrax Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Nope. Just the discs and their respective brackets. Not sure what new discs/calipers would cost, but don't pay more than $100 for junked ones. Installation shouldn't be much either. Less than 2 hours work
stitch_626 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 First get a Haynes or Chilton's manual. Next carefully read that section on your brakes. The most valueable piece of information I can offer is to do them one side at a time. There are so manu springs and pieces that need to be just right you will want to have an example to refer back to. Good luck!!!!
