computergee Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 I think there is a power calculator that tell you how much power you need. Let me see if I can find the link. EDIT:found it
lilkev715 Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 You should be fine with your current PSU as a X800XT is close in the amount of power consumption compared to your existing 9800pro. If you have any doubts, use a digital multimeter to check your voltages.
Dasterdly Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 (edited) I have Antec 400w PSU running 2 Raptors, an 80gig, Remote Wonder Pro, mobo, 8 fans, 2 optical drives, floppy drive, and a 6800GT. I have no problems with it, so I say you don't need a new one. Edited September 27, 2004 by Dasterdly

ccokeman Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 I think you will probably need one. That calculater says i should be fine with a 500w psu ( which i have)says i only need 396 watts HAH! You will want to check your 12v line with a multimeter to know for sure. Also you want to get as many amps on the 12v line as possible since intels are power hungry. Just an example for you at idle my 12v rail reads 11.6 in mbm with meter i read 11.77 with 20 amps on the 12v line . Is it enough? Nope ! I say get the best psu you can get your hands on. I will be as soon as the funds become available.
