kobalt Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 (edited) Radio shack sell trim potentiometer it's like a dimmer just ask for one that works on 12V Edit :Loll that's what roadkill was saying Edited October 1, 2004 by kobalt
worker Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I don t think you can lower the fan speed on those kind of coolers I think they are just 1 speed. Hard drive coolers are loud mine makes a winning sound I got use to it after a while. You would problay have to get a new one that makes less nose. Iggy Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 (edited) Yeah, just get a VR from Radioshack and hook it up the red(?) wire. Or at least I think it's red. You don't need to increase the resistence on all the lines, just the one carrying the power. If you lower the volltage to a certain item, it will decrease preformance... in the case of a fan, it will slow down. slowing down= less RPM which would equal to quieter
worker Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 I have heard of that before. The motherboard can do that to change the speed of a fan that is pluged into it. Get that thing that other were talking about it should work.
