BiPolar Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 When widows set up starts, my first created partition is the f drive...why is this? I think this is why the setup won't run right.
Capslock118 Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 couple of things might be happending.... do you have other Hard-drives connected to your computer and if so, are they on master? That shouldnt be the problem now that i think of it cause that would be an IDE controller thing and your working with SATA...... hmmmmm....... stupid windows :-P
BiPolar Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 i do have an ide drive, but i unplugged the power so that it won't run. That leaves me with the two sata drives in raid 0. yeah, stupid windows.
Capslock118 Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 so wait a tick.... you have your 2 hard-drives set-up in a RAID? or are they just connected by SATA and thats the end of it?

ClayMeow Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 bipolar, see your PM. Disabling power to your drive does nothing, as windows can still recognize the drive via the data cable. If you don't want to actually remove the data cable, do what i did and go into the bios and disable the primary ide cable (hopefully your cd drives are on your secondary ide like mine). Then setup your raid array and install winxp that way. Your raid array will be assigned C. Then you can go into your bios and enable your primary ide cable. I did that, and now it's assigned F (D and E are my cdrw and dvd drives, respectively. I can probably change those letters, but i don't really care). Hope that helps.
