He is correct, Nvidia uses a AGP - PCI-E bridge for use with the PCI-E socket.

But i really dont understand why anyone would upgrade now apart from bragging rights. The technology wont even be used (unless you want SLI) as the full bandwidth of AGP x8 has yet to be fully utilised. I would wait untill the technology matures, who knows, by next year the next step od PCI-E will have come out, the x32 slot.

yup its pointless as at the mo top end cards on the pci-e bus are unheard of unless youra system builder. also guru3d.com proved that the agp 8x 6800gt was in fact faster by about 1fps than a pcie version of the same card. The pci-e bus is really for the increased data bandwidth back to the cpu from the graphics card as agp is crap at that. but its not really used! so its kinda pointless! think about it this way the max bandwidth for pci-e is wat 4gbs? this would be used when writing textures to the system memory when the vram is used up. now compare this to 28gb's plus on the 6800 or x800 line of cards and you can tell its not uite as fast!
