HomerJaySimpson Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 (edited) Well, i was sitting surfing the net and all of a sudden my monitor turned off and my box turned off. I was like "What the hell?" I couldnt see any burnt chips or anything nor did i smell any burning. I think it was the duct i installed last week, i think it was blocking the air from getting to my card. I tried my dads 5900 and it worked, then i tried my 9800 in his comp and the monitor wouldn't come on. Same thing that happened on mine. So i guess my card is screwed. Im temporarily using my old Voodoo 5500, im not too bothered at the minute since i dont play many games anyway. Just gotta wait for my student loan to come now so i can get an X800 XT and a "17" LCD BTW< as i said i couldn't see any burning on the card, would it be completely dead or could it be something simple? r_target Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 It could be as simple as RMA.

r_target Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Did you glue them or tape them?
dangerousfigure Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 pull them off and clean the chips with alcohol really good thats what i do and have never had a rma denied
r_target Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 I didn't have a problem with a 9600xt that had ramsinks removed. Might be worth a try.

HomerJaySimpson Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 I put them on with adhesive, so i've no chance of getting them off. So i may aswell wait till i get enough cash to buy an X800
Whitelightning Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 A hair dryer worked for me...I used adhesive on my 9600 pro...10 minutes of the constant heat and alittle twisting they popped off...Now I use the tape
suchuwato Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 if you use a hot air gun, and they kinda melt, blast the whole board and write an angry letter saying it almost set fire to your room, and you want emotional trauma compensation
anthony Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 I dotn think lgihting it slighty would leave scorch marks? why not just light up those sinks and plug it off? if it doesnt,.. why not light it.. and grab a knife and pry it off? if its already dead.. so what if you do more damage
