sandman1485 Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Hardware: MSI K8N Platinum (Bios revision 1.31BETA) AMD A64 3000+ Info: ADA3000AEP4AP DAAOC 0412RPMW 9818135D40117 Corsair XMS CAS2 DDR3200 Platinum Edition XP-120 with Enermax 120mm fan ~85CFM Idle: 38C Load: 48C So here's the deal....I can't get passed 2.2ghz, when I should be able to easily hit 2.4. Even with the CPU at 1.7V and the ram at 2.85 I still can't post at 2.25ghz. I've set my ram to 166fsb and then overclocked - still, no luck. With my old bios it wouldn't post if the ram was set at anything but 200fsb so I had MSI send me a new bios. That solved that problem, but my overclocking didn't improve. So...tips? Settings to disable? Spread spectrum is disabled...Hyper transport or whatever that is is at 4X. Using 4 SATA hard drives...could that be a problem? sandman1485 Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Core center doesn't help - as soon as I bump it up to 225fsb it crashes.

sandman1485 Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Yea...at 1.7 I should easily be able to hit 225...right? I don't know if I've tried corecell with the ram at 166 though...
Eva_Unit_0 Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 The problem is probably due to the 4 hard drives. Try running it with only two hard drives, and make sure they're plugged into the SATA ports above the Agp slot, not the ones on the far right side of the board. Then see how far you can go. ir_cow Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 (edited) i just did it...easy just remeber that the rams overclocked to so all you need to do is just the HT up and the ram down mine rams 2-2-2-5 and when you go to newegg for 3700ddr its 3-4-4-8 is the fastest they got so set you ram to that or it will overheat like a mother.* and you dont need to change the voltage yet... i have the same ram and cpu check it out..
