Well the boss (my fiance) thinks 1,000 is too much for a new computer. Which makes sense since we have a baby on the way. I am looking to see if you guys can help me build a cheaper computer. She thinks $800 is a little more sensible. With this computer I would like to do e-mail and a lot of multitasking with office programs and downloadign music. Also do you guys think DVD Burners are worth it nowadays. This is what I had come up with on my own. Well thanks in advance guys.

Everything seems ok. However why not cut out the LCD and get a good CRT? Should be able to cut some costs that way. And in regards to your DVD burner question. I do think they are worth it, however you need to picture yourself using it to see if it would be worthwhile. I use mine all the time, but this is me.

Also you didn't mention, but is there going to be any gaming at all, even if it is just light gaming?

OK Well I will probably be playing a couple games. I would like to try that FarCry game it looks pretty cool. Well my budget is about $100 for a video card. I also went with a 19" CRT and bought some corsair valueSelect PC-3200 2X512 RAM. Thanks for the suggestions.

Any video card that will play Far Cry well will cost at least $200.

Also I would try to squeez some pennies and get this.

Also a SATA drive would probaly be worth wild for about the same price.
