Where To Put External Cpu Temp Sensor?

I have an Athlon64 3500+ with an ASUS AV8 K8T800 Pro motherboard.

The case I bought comes with a temp sensor for the CPU and a HD.

I'm not sure where to put the CPU temp sensor. It doesn't seem like you're

supposed to put it between the CPU and heatsink/fan... but I'm not sure

where the best place to put it might be.

Help?

What about on the HD?

I need to know that exact same thing, it would seem that the best place for most accuracte temps would be between the HS and the CPU, but in doing so you're ruining the contact between the two and crushing the hell outta the temp sensor.

Sorry about my useless post just wanted say you're not alone

nooooooo don't put it like on top of the core :O it'd probly melt or something :D under my water block i've just shoved in underneath after, kinda.... slid it across while it was on until I hit the highest temperature kinda thing :) works for me.

Well if thats where you put it, your temp readout wouldnt be too accurate, you would have to add a few degrees to the readout to compensate for where the probe is placed... right?

the manual for my old P2 350 m0b0 told me to put the sensor at the edge of the heatsink, not actually in contact with the processor, as that would damage the sensor. i think it was because the heatsink had a large overlap that you could do that.

back then things were all a little bit more approximate though.
