Some_Guy_ Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I personally haven't owned too many cards, but here goes: 64 MB S3 Savage 2000 (decent card actually, too bad the drivers stunk) 64 MB GF4 MX420 (not a bad card, didn't have a hardware dvd decoder, so on came the...) 64 MB Radeon 7000 128 MB Radeon 9000 Pro (which I promptly returned to the store, it sucked so bad) 64 MB GF3 ti500 (still love this card, can't bring myself to sell it, so it's in my wife's machine) 128 MB GF4 ti4600 (not too different from the GF3, just a little quicker)
Eva_Unit_0 Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 4mb S3 Virge VX PCI --- This card sucked horribly. S3's drivers were absolute CRAP. Came in my old P1 166mhz machine 2MB ATI Rage pro --- Sucked as well...got it for free. It had the add-on 2mb thing to make it a 4mb card. Various Other 2mb matrox/S3 cards --- Had a bunch laying around...they all sucked, lol. 32mb TNT2 PCI --- Good card for the time, but mine had horrible overheating issues. Stock cooler wouldn't cut it, so I modded it with the HS of an old pentium 1. 32mb ATI Rage 128 Pro --- Pretty good card, but ATI's drivers sucked at this point in time. It has strange artifacts in some OpenGL games. But it has vivo and is still a pretty sweet card. It's still in use in my dad's box. 64mb Kyro II --- This thing rocked! It is perhaps my favorite card I owned...it was fast as heck, and had simply AMAZING image quality. (16-bit looked the same as 32-bit) The only downfall was that it didn't have Hardware T&L...once games like BF:1942 hit, I had to upgrade. I loved this card 64mb Radeon 7500 --- Another card that I loved. It was cheap (got it for 47 bucks) and it played pretty much everything at the time. Didn't overclock worth a flip, but the stock clocks were pretty high in the first place. 64mb Geforce2 MX PCI --- Yeah, we all had one. Good card, I use it for troubleshooting purposes since it's a pci card. 64mb Geforce 3 ti200 --- LOVED this card. Beautiful black pcb/silver cooler, and it overclocked to almost ti500 speeds. (230/500 is about the max) Currently resides in a friend's comp, and it plays doom III just fine. 128mb Geforce 4 Ti4200 --- Great card....I got it for my tbird rig from a friend. Another one that we all have somewhere in our house. 128mb Radeon 9700 (RIP) --- This card served me well. Flashed it to 9700 pro, ran it at 350/700 for a LONG time...one day it died. Rest in peace, my companion. I still keep the dead card around here, just because I loved it so much. 128mb Geforce FX5200 --- Yeah, it's not fast. It's not gorgeous. But it works well in my linux box/fileserver. 256mb Geforce FX5900xt --- My current main card. Flashed it to 5950U, and then oc'd it to 500/975. Fast as heck. Great card. I think that's all of them...I probably missed some little ones in there somewhere. B)
Silverfox Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Matrox G400 Dual Head 32MB - Fantastic card, served it's purpose very well....still to this day in use in a PIII 800 GeForce 3 Ti500 64MB - Mmm....yummy card! ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB - Same as ^ for me, but played KOTOR a bit better ATI Radeon 9800 Pro - What can I say other than, great! Right inside this very baby now
