NoSnipeLimit Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Hi, I've been looking at the Sempron and Athlon (Thunderbird,XP, Barton) if someone has benchmarks for the sempron vs any of the athlons even against a palimino, could ya post the links here? Thanks
ShadowPaktu Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 sempron socket 774 ---> athlon xp ---> sempron socket A ---> then prolly the lower end athlons and the duron.
OweO2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 m8 a sempron is literally a thoroughbred 'b' athlon xp but with a different name. if you are after a athlon get a barton xp or save some money and get a athlon 64.
bigred Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 top end socket A sempron 2800+ = athlon 2600+ t-bred... 100% identical chips only socket 754 sempron < athlon 64 2800+
RVE Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Don't Sempr0n's only have 256kb cache?
Guest FxXP Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Semprons in T-Bred form have 256KB cache, 754 versions have 512KB.

Guest FxXP Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 The Sempron 3000+ has it. From XBit: AMD
bigred Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 that's a new one, and that's also a socket A processor. not a
Guest FxXP Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Well, at $120-$130 pricetag, it won't be hard to sell them. The only ones we have are the 2400+, 2500+, and 2600+.
bigred Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 that's not too bad. with 512k they're probably rebadged bartons now. figured that would happen sooner or later... amd has GOT to get rid of them just as bad as I do. now I'm kicking myself for spending $100 each on a box of 30 xp 3000+ chips they're not gonna sell very well against those sempron chips. Guest FxXP Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 We have customers asking us for the 2500+ Barton all the time, a shame that AMD doesn't make XP's anymore. Hopefully we can get stocked with the 3000+ Semprons. I'm still waiting for the 754 Semprons to come in.
