turkish Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Ok, i have regular dsl, nothin special, i was dloadin a large file, about 1.3gb from dc++ from a user. what was weird was, i dloaded it in 3 min, my dload speed was at 7.5mbps....now how in the #*$@(#$ is that even possible? I dont' have that kind of bandwidth even if the other guy who had the file has that sort of bandwidth. Can anyone explain this phenomenon? I checked the file, it really is that large, as it stated. This has happened to me a few times. not that i'm complaining, but how is it even possible ?

Vampire Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 that's a bit strange. i wish that would happen to me I wish I got those speeds on dial up The only times I get higher than those speeds on DC++ is at a LAN
HomerJaySimpson Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 I've had similar things happen on DC++ where i was uploading at over 1mb/s to a guy and i was downloading 100mb/s from another. I've only got a 1MB connection too, but it's a great proggie!

Kamikaze_Badger Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Same thing happens to me in ET . I would say it's a bug in the speed tracker...
ir_cow Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 i get about 5mb download with Cable (Road Runner) and dsl does have a faster d/l speed somtimes, more offten a better upload speed
turkish Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 dean 25, its no bug speed tracker, as in i dloaded the 1.4gb file from two different users. i dloaded it first time at 3 min... the second time in 10 min. eitherway, they were both ridiculously fast, and the file was actually that size when the dload got done in 3 min..... either my dsl modem is superman, or sbc yahoo loves me B)
HomerJaySimpson Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 Hmmmm, i wonder what kind of download would be 1.4gb.........
hardnrg Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 you on cable? i've heard of uncapped cable dsl all over the place... so as soon as everyone who you are contending with for bandwidth in your area stops using your connection, you get more bandwidth... turkish Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 i'm on dsl, sbc yahoo dsl.... regardless, the person i am downloading from would have to upload that fast too... so yeh. its weird, lets leave it at that B)
