InvaderTrax Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Although you can theoretically run those speeds, your actual max will probably be around 300/350 (core/mem). The best thing you can do is just dump it and get a new card. The MX440 is just the bottom of the barrel
DECwakeboarder Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 no an MX200 is the bottom of the barrel, but it can still play CS and old games, just keep increasing those values, SLOWLY! and tell us what you can get to with out getting artifacts or tearing
spathalogic Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Actually.... an integrated dell graphics card is the bottom of the barrel .
oralpain Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Get a new video card. Overclocking something that old is not going to help a whole lot. Just see what the card cna do kill it and get a new one.

That would mean a core of 275 and 365 for the memory. If all is stable, keep bumping it up slowly, no more than 5Mhz at a time until you start to see artifacts in games or in 3DMark, etc., then back off 5 from that setting. Don't expect too much though, because that card is fairly dated now... Oh, and you really only need to OC the 3D side of your video. You can leave 2D set to defaults that way your card is only pushed hard when you are gaming.

oralpain Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 There are no separate 2d and 3d clocks on that card. NVIDIA didn't start that till the latter FX cards. To hell with a 10% OC try 25% if it lock up restart and try 20%. No point in playing it safe with a card thats worth about 20 cents. I stand corrected on the 2D/3D issue, however, if this is the only card he has, and he doesn't have the money for a new one, I would argue that caution is advised. He may reach a 25% overclock, but it's better to start out slow than jump right up to 25% OC...
TheSternMystic Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 I got a buddy with a MX400 in his Gateway that doesn't even have a heatsink on the core, so, if you don't have a heatsink on YOUR card, it's probably best to not overclock too much. And with those cards, the Memory was the worst bottle neck, wasn't it?
the DrewiD Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 (edited) try usein coolbits from nvidia and let the software do it safely. It shouldn't blow you card up anyway. Edited September 19, 2004 by the DrewiD
