No Audio Hardware Installed?

K im tryin to fix my friends comp but its bein gay. He has a sound card, a PCI Creative AudioPCI ES1371. Its installed, like drivers and stuff, and the device manager says its working, but when i go to play something it says "Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available." ANy ideas? Thanks guys,

I'm assuming Win XP is in the equation as well? <_<

 

Have you tried removing the card... and reinstalling from scratch? otherwise... you could try an OS reinstall (overwrite), as this fixed a similar issue I had with XP (naturally :P) and a C-media PCI 5.1 audio card, which though installed... couldn't be recognised by the obstinate OS :wacko:
