Half-life 2 Preload Part Three

The third part of the Half-Life 2 preload has begun on Steam, just start up Steam to begin preloading.

Preloading is definitely a good thing. Hopefully the entire game will be preloaded when it is released, and then all you need to do via Steam is activate the game! Still, I sense Steam buckling under the Half-life 2 wave.

yes the preloading is a smart thing. i wouldn't want to imagine all those downloads when the game came out. it would be quite the strain on the steam servers.

My guess is that the game will be out around the end of October, beginning of November. Of course with Valve, no one really knows....

 

And the preloads are good, except that Counterstirke: Condition Zero preload, which did it automatically without ever asking me, and mysteriously downloaded like 3-400Mb onto my hard drive.

Would you activating the game from the preloads be cheaper than biying it from the store. cause your not getting a anything no box no nothing, not even the cd's?

I'm guessing the cost will be equal, but you'll be getting the game IMMEDIATELY without having to get out of your chair.... And who cares if you get a box or manual? Nobody reads any FPS manuals anymore, as the games are fairly standard in operation.

 

And you won't need the CDs, you just need your activation key, which could be used to download Halflife 2 via Steam at any point in the future.
