Whitelightning Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 I am not much of an Intel guy....but if you want to overclock than you need to get better ram...that pc 2700 will hold you back alot and may not overclock that well. Get at least pc 3200 ram...OCZ, Corsair, Geil....You should be able to get a fairly decent overclock with what you have...start bumping up the FSB 3-5mhz at a time...when it starts re-booting on it's own then it is time to up the vcore abit...0.25v at a time....but with upping the vcore comes more heat....so make sure you have good cooling...As for it not finding the sound card...make sure your agp/pci is locked at 66/33...anything higher will cause instability and your sound card may not function properly... General Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 Thats preaty much the run down. You should be able to hit 170FSB with that ram (assuming its generic) once that happens set the ram frequency to 5:4 (or when it asks u what frequency u want to run ur ram at say 266 [Am i right here?]) then u should be able to break about 180FSB. if u have a good chip (Northwood B) u should go to 200 with no problem. The B chips are beasts at ocing. make sure u got the adequete cooling. your chip wont do much good dead.
Nerm Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 Intel likes really fast RAM lol...you really need a lot better ram than that to get much of an OC with an Intel chip.
GmAz Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 also, make sure your agp/pci bus is locked at 66mhz. I made that mistake a while ago...long while ago now...and it make my PCI cards dissappear. I also used to get 200Fsb on cheap ram. So cheap, i didn't know th ename of it.
