meeh083 Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 Hey mine has that clicking too. Did you need a reciept to replace it? Or did you just send it in to IBM. I still have one month till a year is up. =P
mikeock Posted October 3, 2002 Posted October 3, 2002 go onlien and fill out the rma form then you can send it back for replacement ... you don't need a receipt adn the onlien thing will tell you if it is in warranty

CS-sniper Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 i bought a 60gb and its only ready 30gb of it!!
RabidMoose Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 I've got a 60gb 7200rpm...it's sitting in a cardboard box until I can finish building my computer. But I've tested it, and it seems to be good. Just gets really hot.
Shaggy Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 There's a really good way to solve this problem. Stop buying computers from manufacturers and build your own.
xpandapuss Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 We had a Deskstar that was 120GB but only registered as 80GB...[until you do a partition and format...then all of a sudden there it is...120GB]--I wasn't the only one with the problem either. Send it back for a replacement. I'm sure it won't cost a thing except the shipping charge to get it there....
meeh083 Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 yep when i first got the HD it read 4GB. Haha that was a shock. Where did you get the RMA form from? THe IBM website? I could not find anything on there after about an hour of looking. =P
Psywar Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 i bought a 60gb and its only ready 30gb of it!! there are jumpers on the HD that set it as a limit of 30gbs.. you could have that enabled... also.. go to the IBM website.. they have an install thing for it.. you download it.. boot it with a floppy and it will partition it for you.. and will mostlikly give you all 60gbs.. if you fdisk a drive.. it will only give you 37 gigs.. I belive because I dont belive it supports much higher.. I had that problem with my seagates.. it only gave me like 38 gigs.. and I went to seagate and got the boot disk for it.. and bloop there it is.. 80 gigs..
