Folding_Buddha Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 What is the preformance difference between a Intel Celeron D 335 2.8 GHz, 533MHz FSB, 256K L2 Cache Processor and a Intel Pentium 4/ 2.8 A GHz 533MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache
bigred Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 not as big as you'd think. the A rev prescotts are pretty much floor scrapings that did just a little better than the celerons... therefore got to keep thier cache. however lower FSB and no HT. TheSternMystic Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 800mhz FSB and Hyper-Threading are two great things, that you will never have with 533mhz bus...Unless you got the 3.06ghz...But...Never mind...
bigred Posted September 9, 2004 Posted September 9, 2004 the 3.06 was a great chip BEFORE intel moved to the "800mhz" bus... after that it was only the 3rd best standard northwood. the 3.0c was actually faster, though it was 60mhz slower... see more ghz doesn't mean more speed. DECwakeboarder Posted September 10, 2004 Posted September 10, 2004 really you wouldn't see much difference at all, I have never used a celeron D, but I know that celerons blew so I suspect celly D's do as well, guess the pressy 2.8A is right up there with them tho... If I had to pick, I would take the cheapest and save for something better down the road
