Are you concerned that you aren't getting every last bit of performance out of it, or just that it's listed as "unknown monitor"?

The majority of monitors I've used show up as Plug-n-pray monitors, and I haven't had issues with them. The only reason I ever even try to get monitor drivers is when I want to make sure that I get specifc color profiles or if the resolution is bad...

also, my comp show two video card one said radeon x800 pro and the other said radeon x800 pro (secondary)

hmmm is this supposed to happen?

Yep it sure is, its because of the dual monitor support, mine has it too. For example, when you want to change the resolution on the second monitor, you select the "(secondary)" card then change it. Same goes for refresh rate etc etc. So no worries there.

first off - make sure that the processor is compatable with your motherboard - just cause it fits doesnt mean that it will work - howabout some system specs??? cpu (speed, fsb rating, make), ram (speed and type), motherboard (manufacturer, chipset, max available ram and type, agp speed), graphix card (make, model, speed)

have you tried using your OLD processor???

if that all passes then try the following:

swap monitor plugs - if its plugged into 1 port - try the other port

if you have the option of running dual monitors - try using 2 monitors at the same time - see which monitor will work if either - if 1 works but the other one doesnt - try switching them - if neither of then works, then switch them back - go into your display properties, click SETTINGS, and go to your ADVANCED tab - you will see a "MONITOR" tab - click that and then you will see a drop down listbox - select 60hz or "adapter default" --- click apply - back at the display properties/settings screen click the monitor that is your primary display - then move the slider to 800x600 and do this for the 2nd monitor as well by clicking it and repeating the steps.... click apply

both of your monitors should work if not then unplug them and make sure that there are NO bent pins in the monitor plugs - some monitor plugs dont have ALL the pins so if there is just a lil black hole where a plug could be - dont freak out - but look closely - if you see a little piece of metal in the base of the plug where a pin could be - more than likely you broke one off where as you could either jimmy rig it by cutting a needle's head off about half an inch long and then shoving the sharp end in the hole - this is not to be trusted nor encuraged but it will if done right tell you if infact the pin was used and is causing the problem

if you have an older monitor - make sure that your graphix card isnt trying to display a resolution/refresh rate combination that the monitor cannot support -

example:

old monitors cannot support resolutions of 1024x768 @ 85hz but can at 75hz

midgrade monitors (less than 150) usually can support 1024x768@ 85hz but can only display 1280x1024@60hz
