HomerJaySimpson Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 This sucks, i've been out of college for 5 years and im going back. Went for an interview yesterday to see if i'd get on the course. There were over 100 applicants for 20 positions. Thankfully i did, but now im nervous as hell about going back next week. Anyone else been in this position before? HomerJaySimpson Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 (edited) Accounting eh? Nothing better than working with peoples money Yeah, Britain is really crap for jobs these days......I pity people who work in the same underpaid job for 20+ years. Oh well, only 5 years to go till i finish Edited August 25, 2004 by HomerJaySimpson
Silverfox Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 ouch man! five years....thats cos you do the HND to get the equivalent to A-Levels to qualify for the full degree? i think thats how they described it to me once...or transferring or something backwards! thats generally the british education system for ya! i was going to do computing based degree, but, i cant do a-level maths, so all the proper universities wouldn't accept my application even though i have 2 B's and 2 C's. Plus, the money in computing is reducing a bit unless you're a programmer really or something with that basis. the thought of having to re-train a lot didnt excite me either. so accounting was ideal....hard to learn, but, there is always guaranteed money for me! hurrah! no more Helath Insurance+Computer sales for meeee!! HomerJaySimpson Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Well, the entry requirements state applicants "must have A-levels or equivilent". I have neither, left school, went to college for a year and quit. I guess the clubs, drink and women were too tempting at the time Since im a "mature student" though, the requirements dont really mean as much. Which is why im actually surprised i got in. Are you gonna become a financial advisor or anything? Those guys earn a fortune. I used to work in pensions for Prudential and those guys would always call me hassling me. They're a real pain in the .
Silverfox Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 well, i was considering a variety of things tbh. there is always stock-brokering which for short term is amazing dough. then there is chartered accountacy etc...but there are so many areas to look at - i was thinking actuarial studies and auditing is a good way to go what are your aims for your course? are the government funding yours too? i dont pay a penny!
