Capo Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 How do you apply thermal paste to an Athlon 64 3000? It's the socket 754 (or whatever 700 one it is). Since the top of the process looks like a giant diode, what part do you put it on? The whole thing? I ordered it retail for now (no ocing yet) and have the standard thermal compound that come with the package. Should this work or should I put some AS 5 on it? If so, how do I apply it to this proc? virus Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 yeah put it all across the heat spreader. cause the heatsink comes in contact with the hole thing. just make sure its a very thin layer.
BIGZIPZ Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 If you go with Arctic Silver 5, you should not spread it over the entire surface. The site instructions state that a small (about the size of 1.5 grains of rice) smack bang in the centre is what you need, and don't spread it.
