spathalogic Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I've started to just up the FSB by 1mhz everytime then restarting and seeing if it boots (doesn't hang at start-up and start beeping.) Every 5-10mhz I then boot up past windows and log in to stress test with F@H for about 10 minutes . This works quite well for me; I'm getting pretty high with only a 1.75 (i think.. i'd have to check again. CPU-Z says its steady @ 1.65-) vcore. At 210mhz right now.. going to continue later tonight. I'll keep you posted. (FYI: I backed down from the one in my sig to see if I could get higher doing it this way ) Anyone else tried doing it this way? General Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 thats the only way i do it. i dont have time to burn in overnight for every 1mhz increment. essently when it stops booting. i stop at the safe point that did boot and then i just game for about2hrs. if it doesnt crash its stable. if it crashes il increase the voltage and stress it, but other than that i know what my limit is.
spathalogic Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Well; I thought mine was a little unique because most people say go by 5-10mhz increments and stress test for 24 hours on prime95.. . At least thats what I got when I first came here asking for help .
Nerm Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 well I normally do about 2-3mhz at a time instead of one, but I still use the same concept as you and yes this method has worked very well for me.
GmAz Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 whoa, you have exactly the same OC as I do with your setup, but I got me a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Rev. 2 mobo. I can get 2.45, but its summer and want to keep my temp down since I have my 9800 OC'd pretty high still on my water setup. Nice technique. I am gonna redo my OC when its winter. spathalogic Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Woohoo, at least I found the 1337 way to do it on my own !
General Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 lol when i got this chip and this ram i went straight from 200>260 it booted. i was happy and then i began my 2-3 technique
r_target Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Well, I like to work up to my limit. I'll go 5-10 Mhz at a time with just benches and reboots until I get that feeling, then I get serious about testing it. I take it up to where I think it can go, run benchmarks, run Folding and some games for a few hours; if it can handle all that, I'll start up Prime95 before I go to bed. It's always fun coming back in the morning to see if you made it through the night. Well, sometimes it's not fun.
Eva_Unit_0 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Yeah, I'm with all of them...I'm pretty haphazard about it at lower speeds. When I'm still finding the general area of where my max is, I basically go until I can't get into windows anymore. The more I fine-tune it, the more stability checks I do. Prime95 for several hours is always last. Doom III and 3dmark03 are usually my first ones, lol.
spathalogic Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Err... is 1.825 too high of a vcore? Thats what im at right now. Not sure if its stable yet with this . Also, I can change the multiplier in the bios, but it doesnt change the multiplier when I look @ CPU-Z/ right click on my computer... eh. I guess that means its locked? spathalogic Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Well I cant run 220mhz fsb stable @ anything less than 1.825vcore. Ach! Any pointers? I have 1gig dual channel pc3200 ram @ 2.5-3-3-8. 1:1 FSB:DRAM. well.. everythin' else is in the sig really. I dont feel very comfortable running at this vcore even though im getting low 40s full load . Anything else?
