asus Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Well i was playing fine in doom 3 on the high setting, but i wanted to overclock my vid card because i have never bothered for this card because its fast enough. But anyway. I got DEFAULT core: 325 MEM: 310 Overclock core: 357 MEM: 321 i tested for a night, and no artifacts.. so i think its pretty good.. how well would you say this card overclocked? andrusk Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I would say not bad. I have a powercolor 9700 pro that wont even get past 340/315. I also have a ATI 9700 Pro AIW. How well do the AIW cards usually oc? I was thinking of ocing it, but Ive never oced an AIW before.
asus Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 well.. i think they are about the same.. if you want a good tool for overclocking it try ATItool .. it works wonders.. and it can automatically test for highest core and memory speed.. i just did it manually.. S][R_KILL@LOT Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I got it running at the same speed for the first day i overclocked it but soon i noticed minor artifacts in NFS and in some benchmarks. Did you only test it for artifacts in doom3 or also in other games? I get no artifatcs in some games, and a couple in other games at that clock. i curenty have it running @ 351 321. btw mine is ATI (original) 9700np and i got hynix 3,6ns mem so im lucky it running at this speed. an i got no extra coolling. GregP24 Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 I had always herd that the 9700 overclock like all hell.. or was that the 9500? 9500 Pro's OC very well. I had mine at 355/640 with no artifiacting at all. Not bad when you consider stock was 270/270. I know some people have gotten 380/700+ out of them, but mine wouldn't do it. I have a 100 mhz on my memory and cpu on my graphics card. but holy crap that memory thats huge.
BeanerSchnitzel Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Haha That memory speed he is talking about is actually double the actual speed. So take the number he said and divide it by 2 and that is his actual speed. Just remember that when you see people with 600-700mhz memory speeds. jammin Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 If you get an artifact free overclock in ati tool, remeber to test out your card in rthdribl first.. it good at showing up artifacts when other progs don't. If you get artifacts in this (usually as flahing white specs that resemble lights) then you know you are pushing your card a little too hard. http://www.daionet.gr.jp/%7Emasa/rthdribl/index.html
